Vehicles, building surfaces and postboxes were vandalized, sometimes with swastikas, they announced in a official communication. Police report they were alerted late on Wednesday evening, when a man noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored fluid. The fluid had been drawn in the shape of a swastika, they stated. Officers then located numerous other marked vehicles and house walls in the nearby vicinity. These symbols are banned in Germany under laws outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi symbols. Officials report preliminary tests indicate the fluid was likely human bodily fluid. "There is still no lead as to where it came from; officials are not yet informed of any injuries in association with the event," they commented. Municipal representatives stated they were attempting "to solve the incident" and have asked to the public for tips. A high-ranking representative said the attack made him stunned and required to be resolved rapidly. "This act strikes at the core of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the far-right violent incident five years ago," he wrote on social media, recalling the death of nine people by a gunman focusing on residents of immigrant origin in 2020.
